Taigo watched his world change in that one instance. Everything he knew was falling at this moment. After this one event none of it would matter. What made it worse: he knew all of these facts to be true. He couldn’t contradict what he was now seeing. It was all too real.
Before his eyes he saw what he once called his world and all of those who made it into the elongated misery it was. Needless to say, he hated the majority of the crowd now poisoning his gaze. The mob now rested at the heart of the city.
Taigos piercing eyes cut through the thick mass like a razor.
Clouds rolled overhead soon engulfing the setting sun, leaving the city in darkness. Above the rooftops thunder rumbled in the clouds, clapping loudly and making Taigo shiver. Cold rain began to fall. The piercing droplets grazed his arms and he felt his eyes well.
After many long moments of silence Taigo began to walk, accenting each of his steps with a bleak and barely noticeable swagger. He progressed towards the edge of the crowd where he began to cut through.
The once boisterous crowd fell silent at the sight of a green light swept over the collection. There was a blinding white flash and then the sound of gasps. Finally Taigo reached the center of the mob; his eyes were greeted by the image of a young girl taking her first earthly breath.
She looked about the age of 16 with long brown locks curving gracefully as they fell across her upper features. She attempted to use her hands to push herself off of the rough cobblestone, failing miserably in this attempt.
Taigo offered his arm to her and she took it gladly, “My name is Taigo. I am your protector.”
The girl nodded, sending the message that she had understood him. “Thank you… Taigo” she stuttered at his name, unsure of if she was pronouncing it correctly, “I am very glad of your assistance.”
The girls’ eyes swept over the crowd who was now completely encircling her. Every patron bore the same expression which was one of uncertain curiosity. No one dared to ask this new goddess about herself. They were all too stunned.
“Ma’am, might I inquire as to what I shall call you?” asked Taigo boldly.
The girl lifted her hand to sweep a stray piece of hair from her vision then stated, “Keirith, you may call me Keirith.” She did not smile but her tone was light and not as cold as the mood she was expected to obtain.
The crowd seemed bewildered at her willingness to speak as well as her fluidity in doing so.
Thunder rumbled over-head and murmurs began to spark in the swarm of surrounding masses. Tension began to build as they realized that their savior had now com, and so the story goes.
